wing up I always wanted a horse, I know most have probably asked for one at one time in our lives. Back then I didn’t really understand what it took to care for a horse. Now that I’m a adult and own 5 quarter horses I see what it really takes.

Stable Days does a great job at showing kids what it takes to take care of horse, but also shows how fun it is too. In the movie Araya introduced us to her barn yard friends, showed us the tools to groom your horse, how often it should be done and why it’s important. She also showed us how she feeds the horses every morning. Araya then showed us how to get ready to ride and let us join her for a riding lesson.

If you have a child who loves animals…horses in particular, Stable Days is a great way to give them a glimpse in the world of owning, caring for and riding a horse. You can purchase Stable Days The Road to Jumping at www.stabledays.net. It retails for $16.95.

You can also find Araya at her blog Stable Days. At Stable Days you will find all kinds of information about horses. I loved reading the five fun facts about her favorite horse breeds. So head over and say hello!

The first I had ever seen or heard of the a temporal scanner was when I was in the hospital having my youngest. I can remember with my other kids I had to put the thermometer in my mouth and wait. I’m a very impatient person and hate waiting. So when I found out about the Exergen TemporalScanner. I thought “Wow so much easier and no more waiting”

The waiting is the worst when your kids are sick and you really want to know RIGHT NOW how high their fever is. When my kids are sick I want to make them as comfortable as possible. Most of the time they spend the day sleeping when they are really sick. With the Exergen TemporalScanner you don’t have to wake them to take their temp.

It’s not just for kids though. This is my husband’s newest favorite gadget. He is always asking if he has a fever. Now I just hand him the Exergen TemporalScanner and he can find out for himself.

About the Exergen TemporalScanner

What is the Exergen TemporalScanner?

The Exergen TemporalScanner is the world’s first infrared thermometer designed to measure body temperature by taking a reading from the temporal artery. The temporal scanner is a much more accurate means of taking temperature then any of the other ways including oral, rectal, under the arm and in the ear. It’s also the least invasive method, depending upon a gentle sweep over a patient’s forehead.
What does the TemporalScanner measure?

The TemporalScanner captures naturally emitted heat from the skin over the temporal artery taking 1,000 readings per second, and selecting the most accurate.

Why is is more accurate then measuring ear temperature?

Ear thermometers are considered inaccurate by medical professionals because the positioning of the probe in the ear canal is inconsistent, thus creating varied readings that frequently result in missing fevers. A Harvard Medical School study has proven that the TemporalScanner is more accurate than ear thermometers.

This really is the easiest, quickest, least invasive method to take temperatures. All you have to do is press the button and hold them gently scan across the forehead until you reach the hairline. A red LED light and beep tell you that you have scanned correctly. It takes less then 10 seconds!
Just don’t forget to take the cap off the top like me. I tested it out on myself then looked at the reading and thought “Huh? That can’t be right.” Yes… it wasn’t I forgot to take the cap off silly me.

I know what you are thinking. Where can I get one of these?

They are available at Wal-Mart, Babies R Us, Walgreens, Toy R Us, Costco, and www.baby.com.

Yesterday my sweet husband decided to take the kids with him to do my grocery shopping. What a brave, crazy sweet husband is he. So I made my list for the week and sent him off on his adventure.

Now I’m not going say no there is no way you can do that. Nah not me. Last week was spring break for the kids so you know I need some Mommy time.

It was nice and quiet while they were gone. Oh sweet silence!
But when he returns I remember why I do the grocery shopping. My poor husband must have had one heck of trip to forget stuff ON the the list.

Seriously I put down Lasagna Noodles. He buys frozen lasagna and 3 types of noodles because he said he didn’t what kind. It just said noodles. No honey it said Lasagna Noodles not Lasagna and Noodles. Oh boy.

So needless to say I got some quiet time and didn’t have to go the store. But I am missing a few things and will have to make a trip sometime this week anyway.

All I can say is at least he tried and that was nice! Love you David!

Toys, Toys, Toys! My kids love them. Have to… Have to… have them.
Or at least that’s what they try to tell me.
As a Mom though I’m very picky about what they play with. I want them to enjoy their toys but I also want to make sure they are safe for them to play with.
With all the recalls of toys and lead scares what parent wouldn’t be cautious.

When Mr. UPS man showed up the other day, he brought guess what? TOYS!!
But not just any old toys, he brought us

miYim aims to enrich the lives of today’s families by fostering the imaginations of children and celebrating the lifestyle of the eco-conscious home. miYim is more than just playthings – we aim to teach values and environmental responsibility, all while touching the hearts of children through imagination and whimsy.

Starting with organic food, the organic movement has grown from its small beginnings into a large movement fuelled by people’s desire to lead a healthier lifestyle. At miYim we are taking this idea and applying it to our most precious resource of all, our children.

miYim™ organic cotton toys are made with safety and sustainability in mind. Colored by nature and 100% certified Non-Toxic, our toys help to make your home a safe and chemical free environment for you and your child.

The My Natural Line and miYim collection are exactly what I have been looking for. I know that they are safe for my kids to play with. And they are oh so adorable and sweet!

These toys are so soft. Because of the lack of harsh chemicals. Each toy is dyed with natural ingredients. Yellow comes from Gardenia. Gray comes from Gromwell and Pink comes from Madder. I thought this was the neatest thing. Being all natural makes them perfect for children with sensitive skin.

Rush loves his new Raccoon and Baby Ben! Don’t they look so sweet! He really is that soft too that you just want to rub him on your cheek! I can see them being best buds forever!

The My Natural line can be purchased at Target.

Where can I buy miYim Simply Organic toys?

Use the store locator to find where to buy Baby Ben and other 100% natural toys from

Baby Ben from the MiYim Fairytale Plush Collection which is not even available until spring.

He also brought us the cutest little Raccoon from the My Natural line.

Growing up we always looked the Persimmons to tell us what Winter had up her sleeve for the year. We would cut them open pull out the seeds and split them in two.
If you cut open the seed and see a spoon shape it is supposed to be a bad winter with lots of snow.
A Knife shape means that it will be a really cold winter. And a Fork shape means a mild winter.

It’s just one of those things I always remember doing with my Grandparents growing up. One of those memories that I have always carried with me. I haven’t seen any persimmon trees here but there very well could be some here somewhere. We just moved here last year and have 65 acres so maybe we will do some more walking and see if we can find us one… and if I do I will let you all know what the seed says!

If you have any persimmon trees let me know what you find out!

Hey Everyone! If your visiting from the Ultimate Blog Party you have came to the right place. If we haven’t me before I’m AJ or Amber. I’m the nutty mom who runs this place.

This a great party. Can you believe all the people and the prizes.

With two kids in school it seems like someone is always bringing home some kind of bug. When my kids are sick I want to do everything in my power to help them get better and be comfortable while they are sick.

One of the things I reach for when they have a cold is Triaminic Thin Strips. If your kids are like mine trying to get them to take medicine can become a nightmare. Triaminic Thin Strips are a life saver in our house.

Triaminic and the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) have teamed up to bring us the Sick Day Guidelines.

Here is a sample of what these guidelines include.

Consider keeping your child home if he or she:
Has a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
Has been vomiting
Has symptoms that prevent him or her from participating in school, such as:
Excessive tiredness or lack of appetite
Productive coughing, sneezing
Headache, body aches, earache
Sore throat*
*A minor sore throat is usually not a problem, but a severe sore throat could be strep throat even if there is no fever. Other symptoms of strep throat in children are headache and stomach upset. Contact your pediatrician as your child needs a special test to determine if it is strep throat.

Well not really. But this weeks topic for Small Talk Six over at MomDot is:

“6 Things you love that are green”

If you haven’t played before it’s simple. Every week there will be a new topic all you have to do is answer with 6 words, photos, sentences, videos etc.

Here are some of my favorite green things!

1. Frogs. I love to sit outside at night and listen to the frogs.

2. Spring time! Everything starts turning green instead of blah brown.

3. Grass. I love the smell of fresh cut grass, and love the way it feels on my bare feet.

4. Spinach and Artichoke Dip. I love this stuff. Check out my Spinach & Artichoke Recipe.

5. Emeralds. Two of my kids birth stones are emeralds. *Hint Hint David*

6. The green candle I am burning right now. It smells like a fresh cut Christmas tree.

When it’s nice outside you will most likely find my family outside. We love to walk to the creek and go swimming or just take a hike through the woods to try and see the deer. In the summer it’s non-stop adventures around here. Right now we are planning a camping/floating trip.

Thanks to MomFuse and Kelty I received a Kelty FC 2.0!

My Thoughts:

Weighing only 7lbs the Kelty FC 2.0 is actually very light and easy to carry.
When you look at it you would think it would be heavy and bulky. But it’s actually not.

The shoulder straps and waist belt are nice and padded so they don’t rub and make you uncomfortable. One thing I dislike about other carriers are when we are done with our long walks my shoulders feel like are going to fall off.

I love, love, love all the storage the Kelty FC 2.0 has. When you are hiking you need places to put the babies things like diapers, wipes, food and toys. Or how about snacks and drinks for you and family! It’s like a carrier and backpack all in one. You have the zip off diaper bag, under seat storage and the waist belt storage pocket. Which is perfect for your camera! See that’s a lot of storage!

And thanks to the adjustable seat, Rush won’t be growing out of this anytime soon. Well as long as he weighs less then 50lbs.

I can’t wait to take our next hike using the Kelty FC 2.0 and neither can Rush he loves it too!

At 3:15 I got ready to go get the kids from the bus stop. I get in the car and start backing out of the driveway. As I’m backing up I’m thinking “Something doesn’t feel right” I get right down the road maybe 20 feet, the windows are rolled down and Tucker says “What is that noise?”
Hmm I was thinking the same thing.

So I put it in park and get out to check it out. Crap! I have a flat. Seriously! I back up and go back to the house because my MIL is there visiting and decided to watch Rush while I went to get the kids. I run in the house because it’s almost the time that bus rolls through, and ask her to take her car down the road to pick them up for me.

Later I go out to air the tire up to see where the problem is as I’m airing it up I look at the front tire too. Crap! I have two flat tires. What Luck!

Seriously this would only happen to me. From now on I’ll make sure I check the tires before I leave no matter how big of a hurry I’m in.
